Would you ever go night diving without a partner? Would you ever attempt to squat 400 lbs. without a spotter? Have you heard of anyone crossing the Molokai Channel without a support crew?
Many people try to live the Christian life by themselves without success. "You no boddah me, I no boddah you!" Why would you try to navigate through life – work, raising kids, relationships alone?
God intends for us to grow up in a family. Rick Warren, the author of A Purpose Driven Life, writes:
"The truth is this: Christians need relationships to grow. We don't grow in isolation from others; we develop in the context of fellowship."
We all need others to encourage, pray, mentor, and teach us. The Bible says:
"Let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another." (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Small groups at KCF are groups of people who are committed to helping each other become more like Jesus. They inspire and encourage each other during the week as they pray together and seek and apply God's Word in an open and family-like atmosphere. A typical small group meeting consists of:
- Discussing some questions regarding Sunday's message, or other Bible-based study.
- Sharing prayer requests and praying for each other.
- Eating some ono (delicious) food while meeting some great friends!
If you're interested in joining, leading or creating a new small group, contact Neil Shimabukuro at neils@kcfhawaii.org or Neil Murakami at neilm@kcfhawaii.org. We'd love to hear from you!
