Greetings! This is a very important time of year, often called “Holy Week,” the week preceding Easter Sunday. It is a week where we are to focus on our Lord Jesus, His death and resurrection. I want to encourage you to take time this week to do just that, focus on Jesus. One thing you may want to do is read one of the gospel accounts in the Bible during this week. Or throughout the week, meditate on the word of Hebrews 12:1-3, taking to heart God’s word that is so very relevant during this challenging time. “… fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” What powerful and instructive words for us all to take heart. There are three important things I would like you to engage in this week:
Please do everything you can to invite people to join us for our Easter service together at 9:00 am. (HST) at kcfhawaii.org/watch. Call, text, email everyone you know. Post on your social media to invite people. Let’s invite everyone we know. Why? So they can experience the goodness and hope of our Lord Jesus. I got a text on Monday from a couple in Florida who love joining us on Sundays!
Please join us on Good Friday to pray and fast. Our denomination is calling all churches to a National Day of Prayer and Fasting. Prayer is the battle! God is answering prayer! Let’s join our hearts to pray together with brothers and sisters all around our country. You can get all the information you need at kcfhawaii.org/pray
Please join our effort to be a blessing. Small businesses are facing enormous challenges. Dave Oyadomari-Chun, Joanna Chinen and Melanie Rhoades have worked on an exciting way we can be a blessing. Go to kcfhawaii.org/bless and you will see two businesses listed with a short story about them, a prayer request, and an opportunity to bless them by ordering take out off their menu. You can even indicate that you will pray for that business. God has called us to bless, fellowship, meet needs and to proclaim His gospel. This is a way we can begin to bless others. I want to encourage you to check it out and bless. We just ordered dinner from Nabeya Maido and it was fantastic!!!!
It’s time for the church to arise and shine. Let’s start this week by fixing our eyes on Jesus. Let’s pray knowing that prayer changes things. Let’s invite everyone to join us on Easter. Let’s be a blessing!
Mark
