Walking in God's Power

Greetings! I trust all of you are experiencing the presence and power of God in your lives. In light of all the challenges we are all facing, may you experience the reality of God’s faithfulness. Jesus once said that He would build His church and the gates of hell wouldn’t be able to stop it (Matthew 16:17-18). I would like to encourage you that He continues to build His church today, right here! It is amazing how quickly time flies! Salt and Light, our church plant, is experiencing their one-year anniversary! Pastor Max and his team are doing a wonderful job, leading the church through these uncertain times. They are making a difference in the community God has placed them in East Oahu. Please continue to pray for them as they follow Jesus and live out the reality of their name, Salt and Light. God is building His church and the gates of hell will not be able to stop it! Here at KCF, God continues to build His church. There are now 16 businesses on our Bless a Business page! And there’s more to come! Let’s continue to be the church and pray for each of these businesses. Let’s patronize and support them and continue to promote them in whatever way we can. I really appreciate people like Bob Morikuni who regularly posts reminders about our Bless a Business initiative on his social media. We must continue to reach out as Jesus’ church! We will continue to look for ways to reach out to our community. That is so very important in these stressful times. I want to remind you how we will share the love of Jesus with those around us. We will engage those around us in what is called Prayer Evangelism. We will:

  • Bless. The first thing we do is speak and pray God’s peace and blessing on others.

  • Build relationships. We take the time to get to know people and just love them with the love of God.

  • Meet needs. As we get to know people, there may be felt needs that are shared. We pray for them, asking God to meet those needs, either in a supernatural way or through us. God has called us to do small things with great love.

  • Share the good news of Jesus. When God meets their needs, we share His goodness and love that was shown to them. We share the good news of who Jesus is and what He has done for them.

People are facing so many challenges and the only true and lasting answer is Jesus! So, we will continue to look for ways to lovingly reach out to those around us. I want to encourage you to ask God to show you how you can reach out like Anne Fung did in our previous update. It is so important that we are all prepared and equipped to move forward in a healthy and successful way. The only way we can do is in the power of God. That will be the focus of our upcoming series starting on July 19th. It’s going to be a very foundational series for us and frankly, for everyone I know. This would be a great opportunity to invite people, especially if they are having a hard time, to tune in. WALKING INTO THE FUTURE IN GOD’S POWER How do we walk in God’s power into an uncertain future? Jesus gave us a powerful promise in Matthew 7:24-25. He said, “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.” Romans 12:2 gives us how we can build our lives upon Jesus, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”  In this series, we will look at how we can build our lives on the solid rock, which is Jesus Christ by rethinking the way we think about key areas of our lives. When we do, we will walk in God’s power! This is a series that is adapted largely from Rick Warren’s “Rethinking Your Life” series. In the next update, I would like to share with you something very important concerning our church as we move forward. Steve Jones, the president of our denomination had a very instructive word for churches as we move forward and it really affirmed what God has been saying and leading us. Be encouraged because we are right where God wants us to be! Blessings, Mark
